plastic pollution

Plastic Pollution

Plastic pollution has caused many sea creatures to die, pollution on land and in the oceans.  Global warming is causing the planet to be a bad place for people and animals.  It is dangerous because people may get cut by little bits of pollution that zoom around in the current.

Firstly there are 734kg of waste that New Zealand produces every year and some of that waste drops into the sea and ends up on land.  In the ocean, many sea creatures mistake rubbish for food.  Some sea life like turtles mistakes plastic for jellyfish.  Dolphins don't see the rubbish and it wraps around its neck and it gets choked.

Secondly, birds are always hungry and they eat the things they can see on the surface of the water or on land.  Plastic is put in the water from people who don’t care about sea life or people who forgot to put their rubbish in the bin.  Birds are not the only animals that are dying, also sea creatures are dying and it leads to no seafood or fish.   Swimming will also be banned due to the ocean being polluted.  Millions of seabirds every year are dying as well as more than 100,000 marine mammals.

Lastly, people can help the sea creatures and birds by picking up the rubbish and stop polluting the waters and beaches.  You can put your rubbish in the bin and not throw it just in case you miss and it lands in the water. People can do a rubbish clean up every year so the sea can stay clean and healthy.

In conclusion, everyone should stop polluting the ocean and pick the rubbish up if you miss the bin you can pick the rubbish up and put it in the bin the right way so no rubbish blows on other people’s property and no rubbish goes in the sea.
